Ok, on to the delectable Guatemala bean. Just south of Mexico in Central America, Guatemala has lush rain forests, lakes, volcanoes, and some really cool ancient Mayan ruins. Guatemala is one of the worlds largest coffee bean producers despite its small size and boasts 8 different regions where Coffee farmers thrive, so you can get slightly different flavor profiles based on those regions, higher altitudes, humidity, ash, etc., all contribute.

Taste Profile

Ok, here’s what you really want to know. These beans, when roasted properly are delicious. As a whole, Guatemalan beans are sweet tasting and carry along some chocolatey notes. There is a slight smokiness to the bean and also, hints of toffee (delicious) and nuts are interwoven into this complex taste profile. In terms of acidity, you can get a bit of a variety here, from fruity acidity to high acidity depending on which region the beans came from. Beans grown at a higher altitude tend to have more of a noticeable flavor profile then beans to low to medium elevations.
